Leading hospitality company Dolce International, which specialises in the meetings experience, has pledged its support for National Meetings Week (NMW), giving the annual events industry initiative a truly global perspective for the first time.

Speaking on the decision to support the campaign, Philippe Attia, Dolce’s senior vice-president of operations Europe, explained that it was the corporate social responsibility (CSR) theme that first attracted the organisation.

“CSR is a growing subject across the globe and one that Dolce International is pioneering throughout the territories where we do business,” he said. “Our UK-based clients are particularly focused on CSR and it’s a great opportunity for us to demonstrate that our attitudes to the industry reflect that of our client base.”

Dolce International will join a long list of key industry supporters, including Visit Britain, Sodexho Prestige and ExCeL London, for what will be NMW’s 7th campaign. The hospitality company works closely with UK buyers, traveling across Europe and North America, and also recently announced its intentions to open a new site in the UK in the near future.

NMW is organised by a cross-section of individuals and professional organisations at the heart of the industry. The projects focus on the £22 billion-a-year contribution that meetings and events make to the UK economy, the 1.78 million jobs supported, the importance of delegate care, and the positive benefits that effective meetings bring to business communication and motivation. What’s more, the initiative has also recently launched a charity spin off, Meetings Industry Meeting Needs.

The campaign this year will focus on the positive impact meetings have in sustaining our culture, arts, heritage, local economy, community and education throughout the UK.

“It’s important that the industry supports campaigns such as this, on a national and international level,” said Attia. “The UK meetings industry is an integral part of our business and we are proud to align ourselves with National Meetings Week – we hope we can encourage its adoption throughout Europe and beyond.”
